The Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) has announced that the CCE and its Commission on Accreditation (COA) will hold their annual meeting in Phoenix, Arizona on January 19-24, 1993. CCE panels, task forces, and committees will hold work sessions during the meeting period. The COA will meet to discuss college status reviews, progress reports, and Commission business.
Dr. Joseph Keating to Join Western States' Administration Joseph Keating Jr., Ph.D., currently professor at Palmer College of Chiropractic West (PCCW), has been named assistant to the vice president of academic affairs at Western States Chiropractic College (WSCC). He will assume the following responsibilities: director of baccalaureate studies, consultant to the dean of clinics, radiology residency program, lecturer, and college historian. Vice president of the National Institute of Chiropractic Research (NICR), Dr. Keating is a member of the board of directors of the Association for the History of Chiropractic and assistant editor of the Journal of Chiropractic Technique. In addition to his PCCW professorship, he serves as an adjunct professor in department of psychology at the University of the Pacific, and is a former director of research and associate professor at Northwestern College of Chiropractic.
FSCO Presents Equipment to PCSC
The Federation of Straight Chiropractic Organizations (FSCO) presented a physical equipment grant to the Pennsylvania College of Straight Chiropractic (PCSC) during the annual meeting of the FSCO's board of directors in Orlando, Florida. The grant check was presented by FSCO Chairman Dr. Joe Donofrio and President Dr. Joe Sasso to PCSC President Dr. Bill Volk and PCSC Student Government President Judy Nutz. According to Dr. Volk, the money will be used to purchase microscopes at the college. Physical equipment grants are open to the student governments of the SCASA-affiliated schools and are designed to match funds by the students to a maximum of $1,000 per year for each school.
Palmer University Reappoints Five Board of Trustee Members
The Palmer University system announced the reappointment of five Board of Trustee members, each to serve three year terms. They are Trevor V. Ireland, D.C., Byrd Krumbholz, Paul S. Peterson, Marilyn P. Smith, and Alan C. Ling, Ph.D.
Palmer Davenport Implements $2.5 Million Renovation Project
A $2.5 million project at Palmer Davenport is underway to make repairs and improvements on classrooms, offices, and parking facilities. Currently one classroom has been remodeled and two parking lots have been paved. The roofs of the Institute for Graduate Studies and Research, and the garage/warehouse building behind the mansion are also in the process of being replaced. Tom Tiemeier, executive director of business affairs, commented that more extensive renovations on either the amphitheater or the theater will probably start next spring/summer. Said Mr. Tiemeier, "With the Centennial celebration coming up in '95, we wanted to get started on some of the changes we need to make around campus."
DCs Treat Ladies' Pro Bowler Tour Competitors
Dr. Edel Diaz, Dr. Steve Seagal, and Dr. Frank DiIorio were the DCs treating competitors in the Ladies' Pro Bowler Tour during its stop at the Cherry Bowl in Rockford, Illinois on October 27-November 1, 1992. The final round was broadcast on ESPN, and chiropractic was mentioned as an integral part of the tour. The DCs treated many of the 76 competitors, and three of the five finalists (including the winner of the tournament) received chiropractic care on a regular basis throughout the whole tournament.
New England Chiro Council Elects New Officers
The New England Chiropractic Council (NECC) elected new officers at its fall meeting. Dr. Keith Overland is the new president, Dr. Alan Post the vice president, Dr. Raymond Foster the secretary, and Dr. Peter Lawlor the treasurer.
