Why Did the ADI Decrease? An Example of Cervical Instability

The joint between the atlas and the odontoid process of the axis is unstable. In this case, the instability is in a patient with Down's syndrome. Ten to 20 percent of Down's patients are missing the transverse ligament that stabilizes the atlantodental articulation.
