From Aug. 17-19, 2007, doctors of chiropractic gathered in Orlando, Fla., at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center for the Florida Chiropractic Association's National Convention & Expo. The annual event featured an extensive continuing education program and an exhibit hall that highlighted the latest in chiropractic products and services.

This year, more than 2,600 attendees and 500 vendors flocked to learn about recent developments in chiropractic. The convention opened on Friday, Aug. 17 with presentations by Michael Dobbins, DC, addressing "Homotoxicology and Retracing: Modern Clinical Applications" and "Prevention of Medical Errors: Quality and Safety Concerns in the Herbal Industry," and by Bruce Bond, DC, on topics ranging from "A Master's Guide to Integrating Nutrition Into Your Practice" and "Outsmarting Osteoporosis: Adjunctive Therapy Options" to "Pain and Inflammation Management: Adjunctive Therapy Options" and "Detoxification and Weight Management."

Saturday's program featured a presentation by James Powell, DC, titled "Successfully Integrate a Nutritional Department Into a Busy Chiropractic Clinic" and John Hyland, DC, on "ChiroPractical Rehab - Integrating Active Training and Exercise for Spinal Health and Wellness," among others. The convention closed on Sunday with sessions covering CPT coding and documentation, pain and inflammation and nutrition assessment techniques.

In a special plenary session conducted by members of the Bone and Joint Decade 2000-2010 Task Force on Neck Pain, Scott Haldeman, DC, MD, PhD, Eric Hurwitz, DC, PhD, and Linda Carroll, PhD, provided a comprehensive overview of the diagnosis and treatment of neck pain, and discussed a groundbreaking study on vertebral artery dissection and stroke. (For more information, read "Chiropractic and Stroke Risk: Setting the Record Straight" in the Sept. 24 issue, available online at www.chiroweb.com/archives/25/20/05.html.) The session was moderated by NCMIC President Louis Sportelli, DC.
