NYCC Holds Dedication of New Postgraduate Center

The New York Chiropractic College (NYCC) held a dedication ceremony on October 24th for its new Ernest G. Napolitano Postgraduate Center. The center adjoins the college's Levittown Health Center and will house the comprehensive postgraduate programs. Dr. Napolitano, NYCC's president from 1959 until his death in 1985, received 13 honorary degrees and over 50 educational, professional, and civic awards during his extensive career.

 



Hurricane Relief in Wake of Andrew and Iniki

Douglas Laboratories of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has made a $1000 contribution to the Florida Chiropractic Association (FCA)'s Hurricane Andrews relief fund. The fund was set up to assist the DCs who lost homes and offices during the disaster. At this writing, the FCA has raised over $10,000 for DCs affected by Andrew.

To the west, some 2,379 miles southwest of San Francisco, the Hawaii State Chiropractic Association (HSCA) in Honolulu responded to the destruction of Kauai by Iniki with a pledge drive that has reached $5,000. The funds have been donated to the Red Cross.

HSCA member Scott Basto, D.C., who lives in Kapaa on Kauai's east coast, has provided free care to his community.

 



Dr. James Gregg Honored by Markson Management

R. James Gregg, D.C., president of the ICA and chairman of the Board of Chiropractic Examiners, was recently honored by Dr. Larry T. Markson of Markson Management Services. Dr. Gregg was presented with a plaque for his contributions to the advancement of chiropractic. The plaque reads, "With our sincere appreciation for your unrelenting and devoted efforts throughout the years on behalf of the chiropractic profession."

 



ICA-Endorsed King Koil Plans Promotional Event

King Koil, the mattress company whose products are endorsed by the International Chiropractors Association (ICA), is initiating plans for a promotion scheduled for May and June 1993. The promotion involves individual DCs, who will be at local retail stores to give free spinal evaluations to customers in conjunction with a special King Koil sale. The company is planning a large advertising campaign which includes ads in Women's Day magazine, commercials on Turner Network, and a training video for retail store salespeople. PCSC Faculty Member Publishes Second Novel

Dr. Joe Strauss, head of the Pennsylvania College of Straight Chiropractic (PCSC)'s philosophy department, recently published his second novel, The Journey. The book's plot concerns a young soldier, David Grey, and follows his experiences from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to Davenport, Iowa and involves chiropractic.

 



CMCC Invitational Volleyball Classic Scheduled for January

The Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) has slated its Annual Invitational Volleyball Classic for January 1993. All health care professionals and teams comprised of health care professionals are welcome. For more information contact Dr. Roger Morito at (416) 497-7100.
