Sinus Pain Managed by Chiropractic Care

Sinusitis is an inflammatory process of the paranasal sinuses which may be influenced by bacterial, viral, fungal or allergenic factors. Although acute sinusitis is often thought to be self-limiting, a thorough clinical evaluation should be performed to monitor patient progress and determine if care is necessary.

This clinically applicable paper reviews the signs and symptoms of sinusitis and proposes evaluation and management techniques.

A clearly presented, step-by-step clinical evaluation is accompanied by a discussion of chiropractic and adjunctive treatment strategies, including:

* joint manipulation
* physiotherapy (facial massage)
* nasal-specific procedures
* endonasal procedures
* microcurrent with acupressure points
* botanicals (Echinacea, goldenseal, etc.)
