Adjustive Techniques for Children

This is an introduction to adjustive technique modifications in the pediatric population. The parameters of subluxation in children are discussed, as well as verte-brobasilar stroke. The clinician must consider adjustment variation due to the anthropomorphic variables of the patient.

Substantial changes must be made in clinician contact points on the relatively small vertebral processes of children. Thrust characteristics, including timing, velocity, amplitude, and work, are also altered depending on the size of the patient. Patient positioning is different in the newborn and young child, because most adjusting tables are oriented toward adult spines.
