J. Michael Menke, DC, earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Applied Behavioral Science from Wright State University. He received his DC from Palmer College of Chiropractic-West, and a second MA from the University of Arizona.

Dr. Menke taught statistical and research methods for the University of Cincinnati, Batavia College, Ford Motor Company Quality Improvement Program, Wright State University, the Institute for Transpersonal Psychology, Palmer-West, and the University of Arizona. He is an adjunct assistant for integrative medicine at National University of Health Sciences, adjunct research faculty for the Palmer Center for Chiropractic Research and a Research Fellow in the Program in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona. He was a member of the Stanford University-St. Mary's Hospital Spinal Research Group.

Before returning to research, Dr. Menke practiced chiropractic in Los Altos, Calif., in collaboration with Stanford University Orthopedic Spine Department, El Camino Hospital, Palo Alto Medical Foundation and Camino Medical Group. Dr. Menke was appointed to the Program in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona by Dr. Andrew Weil in 2000. He served previously as a technical consultant for the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine.

Dr. Menke was the keynote speaker on the two-part program "Chiropractic in Integrative Medicine" for the Johns Hopkins Integrative Medicine Select newsletter and audio compact discs and consulted on development of a diagnostic instrument for Chinese Medicine for Harvard University.

He currently is working towards a PhD in program evaluation and research methodology at the University of Arizona, where he also is studying medical decision making and health technology assessment. His research interests include tobacco control evaluation, evaluation of complex health care systems, measuring health care outcomes, Bayesian statistical analysis and adaptive clinical trials.
