The proposed merger of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners and Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards was approved by NBCE delegates and FCLB members at their respective annual meetings, held jointly in Atlanta, Ga., this year. Per the new bylaws, the new entity takes the NBCE name, with FCLB continuing as a department within NBCE. The federation will continue to enjoy Board of Directors representation on what will be a single, expanded board.

The Urban League Visits New York Chiropractic College
Dr. Kenneth W. Padgett, president of New York Chiropractic College, welcomed Ms. Rosemary Durant Giles and a group of young adults from the Urban League of Long Island's Adolescent Vocational Exploration (AVE) Program. The purpose of AVE is to encourage early academic preparation for long-term professional goals. Following a tour of the Old Brookville Campus, the AVE participants were given an opportunity to learn about the chiropractic profession.
The tour concluded with a round-table discussion led by Dr. Mark Feldman, associate director for Institutional Advancement. As both an instructor and field practitioner, Dr. Feldman was able to offer the young people a realistic view of chiropractic education and the chiropractic profession.
Mr. Giles remarked, "The visit to NYCC was a very impressive experience for the young adults who visited the college. It's programs like this that act as a bootstrap in keeping our young students honing in on their professional goal. I was very impressed with the manner in which the professional staff at NYCC undertook to impress upon the young adults why they should consider chiropractic as a possible career goal."
