The proposed merger of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners and Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards was approved by NBCE delegates and FCLB members at their respective annual meetings, held jointly in Atlanta, Ga., this year. Per the new bylaws, the new entity takes the NBCE name, with FCLB continuing as a department within NBCE. The federation will continue to enjoy Board of Directors representation on what will be a single, expanded board.
| Digital ExclusiveThe Chiropractic Profession -- in Spanish
The book, La Profesion Quiropractica, a project of the Spanish chiropractic association (Asociacion Espanola de Quiropractica or AEQ) has recently been published. According to the author Antolin Silva Couto, BS, DC, CCSP, vp of the AEQ, the book was written because of the "absolute lack of information regarding chiropractic in the spanish language," and the need to inform Spain's legislators, politicians, and health professionals about chiropractic.
The 161-page book is a comprehensive and well-referenced review of the chiropractic profession, divided in five chapters: the vertebral subluxation complex; chiropractic practice; cost efficiency and clinical efficacy of chiropractic treatment; chiropractic education; and the legal situation of chiropractic around the world.
Dr. Couto states the book is the first scientific textbook in the spanish language. The lack of a basic textbook on chiropractic in spanish, Dr. Couto asserts, has resulted in the "isolation of the profession in spanish speaking countries," particularly as it regards other health professionals and lawmakers.
