DCs Treat at California Police Olympics

MODESTO, California -- Battling temperatures which reached 108o F., chiropractors treated competitors at the 1995 All California Police Olympic Summer games, held June 24-July 1st. There were approximately 5,000 participants, all of whom were active or retired California law enforcement officers. The 40 athletic events included powerlifting, tennis, karate, boxing, golf, "toughest cop alive," and many others.

The high-risk, contact sports such as powerlifting, wrestling, karate, and boxing were held at the Red Lion Hotel in Modesto where the following team of DCs volunteered their services: Paul Forakis, Mark Pollack, Rick Joy, Robert Logan, M. Sharp, Kelly Mabe, Bernard Bowes, and Clayton Heatley. The chiropractors logged over 1,000 patient visits by the appreciative athletes.

The All California Police Olympics is a yearly event, and any DCs who are interested in treating athletes at next year's games in Long Beach should contact Mr. Duke Nyhus at (619) 571-9919.
