In the
October 2009 issue of Acupuncture Today, I wrote on how to use pulse diagnosis to distinguish patterns as excess, deficiency or complex excess with deficiency. I ended that article by saying that most complex layered cases that enter the clinic will show excess/deficiency patterns affecting the liver, stomach and spleen. Our job, as herbalists, is to evaluate the various stagnation and deficiency patterns and to apply the appropriate herbal formula.

Dr. Heskett Honored as Life's Alumnus of the Year

MARIETTA, GA - Dr. Dennis Heskett, a 1990 graduate of Life University, was honored as the 2000 "Alumnus of the Year" in a ceremony at the school's Homecoming celebration.

Dr. Heskett, who practices in Murray, Kentucky, was honored for long involvement and support of the university. A state alumni representative in Kentucky for the past eight years, Dr. Heskett has supported Life by encouraging youth to become students at the university, which celebrates its 25th year of operation. He has also been a guest lecturer at Life and other chiropractic colleges around the United States.

The ICA selected Dr. Heskett as a "Distinguished Fellow" and presented him with the "Distinguished Service" award at its 2000 annual convention.

 



Sherman Gains Computers, Study Space

SPARTANBURG, SC - Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic is enjoying a new computer/teaching laboratory and expanded study space. The new lab houses 20 computer workstations and a faculty workstation, and is equipped with a state-of-the-art video projection system.

The lab is used throughout the day for classes, and remains open in the evening to give students greater access to computer facilities. The old computer lab continues to be open to students throughout the day.
