Imagine the first class of chiropractic students. The excitement D.D. must have felt as he shared the knowledge that would evolve into the second largest profession of primary care providers. Could he possibly have realized what his efforts would accomplish? Or did he act out of compassion for his fellow man, unwilling to allow drugs and surgery to be the ONLY options available to alleviate the pain and suffering he saw around him?
Almost a century has passed since that time. The chiropractic profession has developed greatly in some areas of the world. Examination of the circulation/geographical breakdown of our profession (on this page), attests to that fact. But it also reveals the fact that there are areas where chiropractic has little more than token representation.
While the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia have strong groups of chiropractors serving their respective populations, Africa, South America and Central America are almost void. Sadly, there remains a vast portion of the world's population for whom chiropractic care is non-existant.
Back then, (as now) there was probably a strong segment of skepticism toward D.D. Palmer's method of treatment. And as history has taught us, there were also many supporters. Without those supporters, today's beneficiaries of D.D. Palmer's genius, might never have experienced the tremendous benefits of chiropractic care.
If you are one of the fortunates to enjoy a nourishing meal and sleep in a warm and secure bed at night, it is sometimes difficult to fully appreciate the plight of the hungry man, or the homeless family. Similarly, if you are a member of a population that has ready access to chiropractic care -- you might not devote a great deal of thought to those suffering needlessly for want of chiropractic care and treatment. Perhaps you don't need to be reminded about such matters, but you just wish you knew what you could do about them.
Okay, so you know that too much of the world still doesn't enjoy chiropractic care -- but now you can change that. Currently, the entire continent of Africa is crying out for health care. Over the next few decades their health delivery systems will be formalized. It is chiropractic's crossroad:

We can be included. There is a way. A chiropractic college in its infancy has just begun at the Natal Technikon in the province of Natal in South Africa. The South African Chiropractic Association has been able to insure the that there will be ABSOLUTELY NO DISCRIMINATION of any kind regarding chiropractic students at the college. Students of all races and from other countries are permitted to attend.
The very first class of African chiropractic students has begun in its first year. Unfortunately, the South African government does not commit federal funds to any new school, unless that school operates on its own for five years. The first two years the school must operate almost totally without support. Over the next three years, the college receives an ever-increasing amount of funding. Finally, after five years of operation, the chiropractic college is completely supported by the national government.
The 121 South African chiropractors have been donating large amounts of their own money to help get the college started. They are exhausting their ability to support the college on their own.
They need our help.

Many relevant diagnostic signs are not performed deliberately by the examiner or by the patient at the examiner’s direction. They are observed as the patient reacts to their condition. Fortin’s finger sign, Minor’s sign, and Vanzetti’s sign are three examples of this principle.
Spearheaded by burgeoning scientific and clinical research literature, psychedelics have reached a level of media coverage and popular interest that has not been seen for over half a century. By “psychedelics,” we are referring to the unique class of substances that includes psilocybin (the active compound found in so-called “magic mushrooms”), LSD, dimethyltryptamine (DMT), ayahuasca, 5-MeO-DMT, and mescaline – each of which occurs in the natural world (except for LSD, which is a semi-synthetic compound).
While working at the Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque, N.M., one of the primary care physicians stated that imaging every patient prior to receiving chiropractic was not medically necessary. It was at that point I reconsidered the need for the imaging of every patient to avoid malpractice.
